Dedicated OSDC Model

The Dedicated OSDC Model works extremely well for clients who are trying to achieve one or more of the following objectives:

  • Moving stable system support and maintenance activities offshore
  • Moving a predictable stream of development and enhancement work offshore
  • Wishing to establish a Testing Center of Excellence (COE)

Unlike the Project-based Model, where project resources may come and go based on the needs or phase of the project, the Dedicated OSDC Model maintains a pool of offshore resources that are dedicated to a client program.

In the Dedicated OSDC Model, Ambient will work with the client to identify the type of work earmarked for the Dedicated OSDC and the profile of individuals that are requried to staff the center. Ambient will then work with FPT Software to staff the OSDC with the resources required, and train those resources on the body of work to be completed.

In the Dedicated OSDC Model, the client pays a monthly retainer fee for every resource in the OSDC. Over time, this model can become more cost-effective than the Project-based Model for the following reasons:

  • OSDC resources are dedicated to the client's business and gain efficiencies over time
  • Volume pricing discounts apply as additional resources are added to the OSDC
  • Projects are not fixed price, so risk buffer is not added to the cost

As with the Project-based Model, local Ambient consultants will utilize the Pivotal Provider Model to establish the objectives for the OSDC, establish the staffing profiles, staff the OSDC, transition work to the OSDC, and establish standard processes, procedures, and handoffs.
